Please note that the Castle will be closed on Wednesday 2 September 2026 until 1pm approx for essential maintenance. This is a full site closure and includes the car park, the coach park and all access pathways. For safety reasons, we kindly request that you do not try to access the site prior to reopening. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

Bad Weather Conditions

In the event of bad weather, the Castle may be closed at short notice for safety reasons. We advise you to visit the Met Office website to check weather conditions in the Stonehaven area.

Summer Season

1st April - 30th September:

Open daily, 09.00 – 18.00 (last entry 17:00).

Winter Season

1st October - 31st March:

Open daily from 10.00, for closing times see foot of the page. Last entry is one hour before closing time.

Castle Closure Dates

The Castle is closed to the public on the 25th & 26th of December and the 1st & 2nd of January annually.
