We are very sorry but Dunnottar Castle is closed due to high winds inside the Castle.

COVID-19 Guidance

We are pleased to advise that the Castle is open to the public, with strict covid-19 protocols in place for the safety of both visitors and our team. The health and safety of our visitors and staff remain a top priority.

What to expect

To help protect you during your visit:

  • You will receive a warm welcome at a distance.
  • We have hand sanitiser stations at the entrance and other points throughout the Castle.
  • Appropriate PPE is worn by our staff.
  • We have helpful, directional signage on site, please follow this.
  • The Castle toilet is open but please observe the one in – one out rules and the main door should be locked while using the toilet facilities. Two cubicles are available for couples/families.
  • We advise that you wear a mask or face covering where possible.
  • Report any concerns to our team.
  • Please adhere to Scottish Government guidelines and legislation in force at the time of your visit.
  • At present, the only area closed to visitors is the Benholm's Lodging information room.
