  • Accessible by a footpath from the nearby Castle car park, spend time examining the buildings and ruins, amidst the unique surroundings.  Due to the steep access path, and number of steps, the Castle may not be suitable for all visitors.
  • Travel to and from the Castle with the opportunity to enjoy its many aspects takes approximately 2 hours.
  • Dunnottar Castle can be approached from the Coastal Path which begins at Stonehaven Harbour.  Enjoy the stunning views and surrounding seascapes as you make your way through fields and along the clifftop paths towards the most evocative of ruins.
  • Care has been taken to maintain the historical structure of the buildings in keeping with its heritage, and Scheduled Ancient Monument status.  Visitors are therefore advised to be cautious of any steep steps and uneven flooring when walking around the Castle.
  • Some of the Castle chambers are dark therefore visitors may wish to take a torch.
